This in from Westchester County Exec. Rob Astorino: businesses and residents are now able to apply to FEMA for aid in the aftermath of Tropical Storm Irene (in addition to local governments and not-for-profit organizations, as was previously announced).
“Westchester residents and businesses, particularly in some areas of the county, have been hit very hard by damage from the storm,” Astorino said in a statement. “We don’t have all the details yet, but the Federal Emergency Management Agency is moving quickly to get federal relief dollars to our area.”
The first step, he said, is for residents and small businesses to register by calling FEMA’s registration number: 1-800-621-3362; or by visiting their Web site: www.disasterassistance.gov for further information.
